Yep! Except for Snow Patrol, Coldplay and a few others. Thank God Bob Dylan still has something to say. Elton John and Rod Stewart should've been put out to pasture a long time ago. Rap is total rubbish. 1973 ... now that was a good year!

Not at all in my opinion. The Rock/Metal scene has been on the up for the last few years. There was a slump in the late 90's/Early 00's when the 'Nu Metal' scene poisoned the scene but thankfully that was a short phase.
Band's like Lamb of God, Decapitated and Gutworm are pushing the boundaries of music to the edge whilst older bands such as Slayer and Megadeth are still producing some of their best work to date.
If you want to hear dynamic music I'd recommend some Scandinavian metal bands such as Children of Bodom or Arch Enemy. European metal will always have the more complex, orchestral parts as opposed to the American (generally) chug-metal that can get quite monotonous
There'll always be commercial lame pop music and that's always gonna suck but I honestly think that things are looking up for the rock scene at present.

Music today just isn't as quality as it once before. There are too many pop bands being rolled out and they are not anything big at all! It's all due to shows like the X-Factor and Pop Idol. The lyrics, GOD WHAT A SHAMBLES.... Good old fashioned rock, the lyrics have great meanings and i don't know there is just something goooood about it.
I must say though that on the odd occasion something good happens and we are blessed with a really good band with good voice, music and style....
Most music though is very simple, nothing complex or dangerous. They need to be original, i hate living in such a bland time when it comes to music.!!

i've said it before and i'll say it again.....todays music is more about selling an image than producing GOOD music......i'm not saying there is NO good music out there, but you do have to search for it.......what happened to the days when awesome bands got mass public attention. (like Led Zepplin, The Eagles, and other classic rock acts) If you turned on the radio, tha was what you heard. Now days you don't get airtime unless your a rapper, a half naked girl or a guy with "emo"-tional problems meanwhile some really great bands are getting overlooked.

I like rock but thats not my primary interest. I love Hip Hop/ Rap, but that has gone down the drain as well. Tracks don't have any meaning to them any more. Its probably been like about 10 years that nobody has come up with anything worth listening to. Maybe I'm just old school. My favs were 2pac, Biggie, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Nas Trick Daddy (back in the day, I'm from Miami. He's been around for a while down here), Wu-Tang, Bone Thugs-n- Harmony. Those are just a few. And you don't here much of them lately. I like way older stuff to like Strafe (Set it Off) and Africa Bombata, Zapp and Roger, but those are completely non-existing.

Yes, but what saves us is that we still have some of the oldies around. Neil Young, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen..etc. The most promising new artist I've found is Shooter Jennings- he's amazing. Like his late father, Waylon, he does his music his way. In a world of fluff he's a rock.

Nope
More music, more of a wider source of music, so much amazing music, soul funk jazz house hip-hop rock indie metal, as well as loads more sub genres of music now, you simply have to look further than the charts, listen to radio shows, buy magazines, read reviews and go on message boards, you will find good music, go see bands for the hell of it or see a band you know and listen to the warm up bands, so much good music now and a lot of it passes most people by unless they actively are looking for new music
In short, look beyond the charts and search for new good music yourself

you could say that but I think you are missing out a number of bands, for example Muse, a brilliant band by the way, have lots of godd riffs and are one of my favourite rock bands, or look at Carlos Santana hes released a couple of album recently that have done really well and have some absolutely brilliant rock guitar riffs and solos and whole songs, these are brilliant nad they ar being produced now, I think that, yes a lot of "rock" has gone downhill and is more pop than rock, but i also think there are still fantastic rock bands around.

Yes and No, some bands have music that I dont know why I like, buts nice to listen to, but for the most part, it's pretty crappy. Alot of Rap (which USED to be ok), and alot of pop. And if you can call what plays today rock, It's all power chords and stupid basslines.

It is a good question because today our Syd left us, even if he left us before.
But it's logical thinking that there is a lot of rubbish coming out of the radio.
The important is to find out those bands who believe in what they do without thinking only to sell(they care about that too) and encourage them to keep playing.
Keep this spirit
So long Syd
