While breastfeeding, it is normal not to have periods during the first 6-12 months. Women who *do* have periods are often irregular. There is no way to know whether missing a period is just normal for her, or if she is pregnant based on what you wrote.
A woman who is exclusively nursing and hasn't had a period is 98% protected from pregnancy for the first 6 months after giving birth. No, it is *not* 100% effective (no birth control method--including abstinence--is 100% effective!!), but it is very close.
This can get confused if a woman is on hormonal birth control. Because it causes bleeding, there is no way to actually know if a woman would be having a period or not.

Periods can be really irregular for as long as a woman is breastfeeding. Some women don't get pregnant again until they stop (natural spacing). It isn't true for everyone though, as evidenced by my two children who are 14 months apart.
As an encouragement you should know that at 10 and 11 they are good buddies.

After giving birth your cycle may be off balance for a while and especially if you are breast feeding. it could take a year or longer to be normal again. some women even take birth control just to regulate there menstral cycles. breast feeding is not a form of birth control and you can be pregnant right after giving birth

Woman either don't get, or barely get their periods while breastfeeding. It's certainly possible that is what causing her lateness or lack of period all together. Just take a test, and you'll know for sure!

theres a greater risk of getting pregnant after haveing a baby and expecally with breastfeeding it can delay or make her period more irregular for up to a year...but you still can get pregnant and might not know as soon as you would when your period is regular..so you might want to go talk to her doc

it could be due to breast feeding... as in some cases women who breast feed will not have their period at all. if you're concerned, haver her ask her doctor to do a test. It couldn't hurt.

her hormones are not back to normal yet primarly due to her breastfeeding, so her lateness is due to that.
