Most weather forecasters have talked about a major event slamming into the east coast this year somewhere between South Carolina and New York. I've heard numbers as high as 185 m.p.h. winds!

I have tried to get home owners insurance and have been unsucessful=(. Other than that, I have been saving gallon milk jugs, and have my deep freezer full of frozen water. I also keep a months worth of baby formula on hand. I usually wait to see where the storms are going before I do anything. What I do is haul my family off to one side of the state or the other, and stay in a motel till it blows over. I live in North florida, so usually it is not as bad, but you never know. I tell you one thing that I am not doing, and that is purchasing more than about $50 dollars worth of frozen groceries at one time. Last year we were out of electric several times, and the longest being for about 4 weeks. I kept re-purchasing, and the next week no electric again.. I will keep potted meats, bbq grill, and camping items. I don't mind being without the electric. I love to camp. My kids however, recieved a good education that summer. They realize how much the appreciate electric now...lolz.... taking less for granted.
