my coaches always told me, sprint to the spot where the ball's going to be, dont float....get there, camp under it so you're ready to throw...also, dont run on the balls of your feet, run up on your toes, if you're running on the balls the ball will bounce around more, toes is a smoother run

I am a pitcher and left fielder. I have been playing there long enough where I make almsot every catch diving sliding ect. One thing it may just be you being rusty. Don't give up. Every year after the off season I somtimes have a little trouble. One of the biggest things I can tell you. This is the piece of advice that helps me more than anything. Don't think. At all. Don't start thinking abou tscrewing up or where it's gonna go. Just act on instinct. What I try and do is let the ball hit me in the chest. THen stick your glove there. Hope that helps

I'm pretty much a lifelong infielder, but one token, general piece of advice is that it is always much easier to come in on a ball than to go back on one...so, you don't ever want to have to reach back for a pop-up or a fly ball....

If you can, have a friend/teammate/coach hit or throw you some pop-ups so you get your timing and confidence back.

Have someone hit you fly ball after fly ball. Practice will help with your confidence & judging the ball. Make sure you go back on the ball first...if you come in, it's harder to go backwards to catch the ball.

But the more you practice taking the fly balls, the easier it will become.
