That will vary from person to person. Some people find it easier to talk to men...some people don't see any difference, and are comfortable talking to either sex.

Generally (very generally) women are more understanding and will listen to people, especially someone who's talking about a problem or issue in their life...guys tend to want to fix things, and so are more apt to start telling the other person what they need to do...versus just listening, being sympathetic, and sharing in the joy or pain without giving unsolicited advice (remember, I said this was generally...there are of course always exceptions!).

It could be- without knowing your situation- it could be that your upbringing caused you to be more comfortable around women than men. I, for example, grew up with just two older sisters and my mother around, so for a long time, it was easier for me to talk to women. This could also be the case if your father didn't communicate well (or was overly competitive with you or a multitud of other things) but your mother did, etc. I felt awkward talking to guys because I just hadn't been around them as much. Eventually though, I found that I could relax more around my male friends because I could talk about whatever was on my mind and a lot of times, they share the same point of view.

It's an interesting question that has been scientifically studied, believe it or not.

In previous studies, level of self-disclosure (a way of tapping "ease of talking to") has been investigated in male-male, female-female, and male-female interactions in the laboratory.

While some might think it intuitive that people would find their own gender easiest to talk to, both men and women tend to self-disclose more to women in these studies.

So there actually is an answer to your question, verified by science: Women are easier to talk to.

Women are raised to be better communicators. They are more interested in language and listening. Has to do with the nature of women. They are nurturers. Men tend to be more goal oriented.
Women are more process oriented.
