It sounds like you are describing "floaters" or pieces of vitreous that "float" around in front of your retina. This is a common occurance with aging and usually starts to become slightly noticeable around the age of 20. But if you have a sudden onset of more than just a couple or you start to notice them worse than before it could be a sign of a detachment of your retina or vitreous. These are serious conditions that if caught in time can be helped but if not can lead to blindness. It is best to go to your optometrist to have a dilated fundus exam so that they can be sure everything in the back of your eye is healthy and normal. If you feel these symptoms you are having are sudden or if you also see flashes of light or a curtain across your vision please call your optometrist and describe your symptoms.
The other things you descirbe sound like "afterimages" which can occur after starring at something for a long period of time and then looking at a blank wall. You are essentially fatigueing your photoreceptors and this causes you to see the afterimage. This can happen if you stare at a waterfall for a long period of time and then look at say rocks beside it. You will see movement in the rocks going in the opposite direction of the waterfall because you fatigued the photoreceptors that detected the downward motion and so instead of equal innervation from down and up, the down are weaker and so you see the upward motion....geez, I hope that makes some sense...

Not to scare you but you had better go to the doctor or eye doctor now!!!
The systems you have been having are very serious, signs of a couple different things. And if you do not go go well tomorrow when you wake up you may just see black and nothing else or the other which I am not going to say because it is so rare but PLEASE GO TO THE DOCTOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They're obnoxious things called 'floaters.' A lot of people get them, and it doesn't mean you're going blind. It does mean you might need to eat healthier, get more excersise, and try to cut down on stress. Hope this helps!
