As with most successful teams, it starts with their pitching. They have the best ERA in baseball by almost half a run per game, and their starting staff is five-deep, with Bonderman, Verlander and Miner still really young.
Their offense isn't awesome, but they're still sixth in runs scored, and can score enough to win with the pitching they have. They've done a great job of rebuilding after some lean years, and they should be here for a while.
I'm happy for the fans of Detroit, because they've had some tough years with the Tigers lately. They deserve the better times ahead of them.

David Dombrowski.
He is the President and GM.
He took over as President in 2001 and fired Randy Smith & Phil Garnder in 2002. He took over the GM duties then.
Since then he has made trades, signed players that on one else wanted, and has stocked our farm system with talented players.
Of all the moves he has made, making Jim Leyland the manager is probably the best.
There is no way The Tigers are where they are now without David Dombrowski.

They have a well balanced team...a very good starting staff with Rogers, Robertson, Verlander, etc...a decent bullpen, although I don't think Jones is the greatest, but he's getting the job done for the most part...and they have a balanced offense as well...they have enough speed, power and guys who can get on base to win you games...the key to winning in my opinion is pitching and defense...they're pitching and making the plays...the question now is what will they do the second half of the season...can Rogers continue pitching effectively at his age...can Verlander match his first half...we'll see, should be a fun second half

Well, I'm not a Tigers fan but, I have seen some of their games on t.v. and they are a very good team. I think what makes them so good is their pitching.

Management counts for most of it, and the pitching staff is excellent, and the players are playing as a team, not as egotistical independents.
