well, christine sweetie. First of all sics your talking about a square which is an equilateral shape where all sides are equal. so i think your talking about a rectangle. so if the length of a rectangle is 36 and the height (width) is 8. that means the area of the rectangle is 36 x 8= (288).now according to your question what is the square root of these numbers doesn't make sense because. first of all there is now quadratic degree. but if you want to know the square root alone of these numbers it would be: 36-- square root is 6. and for 8 the square root is 2(square root symbol{radical}) 2. but yeah i think that's what your asking for. and if you wanted the square root of 288 it would be 12 radical(square root symbol) 2. ok i hope that helped more then confused.

Here's one way when dealing with a problem like this.

1. List the factors of both numbers.
36 = 3*3*2*2
8 = 2*2*2

If the number has pairs of factors (e.g., 3*3) then the root would be 3. If you can't pair up a factor then it is part of the "root".

36 = 3*3*2*2 ---> 3*2
8 = (2*2)*2 ---> 2* root 2

So the answers is 3*2*2*root 2. or 12*root 2

I think you need to read the question again before asking for help.

The length of the square is 36 and the height is 8... uh that is a rectangle not a square.

but 36x8 = 288 and the square root of 288 is about 17 so maybe that is the answer you are looking for.

The square root of 36 is 6.

8 can be written as 4 times 2, and the square root of 4 is 2, so the square root of 8 is 2sqrt2.

The product of these is 12sqrt(2).

12√2

√36 is 6
8 = 4*2
so √8 = 2√2
√2 is about 1.212
