Not leaking from the tank. Could it still be the fuel pump even it's its pumping out after the car is turned off?

Took it to the mechanic, he wants $130.00 just to look at it (said you have to remove the tank).

If i remember right, your car has the fuel pump located inside the gas tank. So i would begin to look for another source for your leak. At the tank there are hoses thay run from the pump to the fuel lines. You may just have a bad hose. It will leak because the lines are under pressure from the pump, even with the engine off. Put the car up on a lift and start looking at the fuel lines and hoses.
good luck

Sounds like an "o" ring or gasket at the fuel pump if the pump is in tank. If fuel pump is out of tank, it sounds like a loose hose connection. The leaking after the pump is off is usually caused by pressure build up from normal driving or heating and expanding of fuel, which make me think its a gasket or hose. Fuel pumps normally go out at once and leaking would cause the car the idle rough or stutter.

Sounds like the return line is rotted. The lines go from steel to rubber in most cases. Just a few inches to a foot by the tank, up to the pump. Getting the tank off is the hard part. Aside from that, the repair should not be too difficult. Shouldn't cost over 200 bucks. Good luck.

if it only leaks while the tank is full, it is what they said the o-ring at the top of tank where the fuel pump is put in along with the sending unit. but if it leaks when the tank is partly used, it is you have leak at the outlet at the rubber fuel line( clue the leak doest stop after the fuel is shut of/ line pressure) the tank needs to be pulled down a little and all rubber lines replace. the mechanic knows this already is is common in my field. 20year auto tech spec fuel Inj.

It sounds like maybe a cracked fuel line but yes if there is a bad sealing gasket on your fuel pump it could continue to leak will the car is off.

it is probably the gasket around the pump that is leaking gas out, the same thing just happend to my bf's mustang and it was the little metal gasket that goes around the hole, where the pump connects... hope this helps!
