I haven't lived there, but I did hear this comment today...

Due to the sterile, and rigid and competitive environment, that there are some residents who are not proud of their country. If this is true...what's being done? Is there any hope? Will people who move there adopt a similar way of thinking and behaving?

I rather think we're rather apathetic. We don't care about a lot of things besides making money. Unlike the rest of the world, where people care about politics and live in fear of war and such, I think the government has made it too safe for us, being a "nanny state".

I shouldn't complain though - I'm one of the beneficiaries after all.

Well, I'm a Singaporean. I could say we eat well, live well, low jobless rate. Everywhere is very safe even walking alone in the middle of the night. Over here, we obey rules laid by the government and would rarely raised our voices. Perhaps in this life time or next century, you won't get to see a riot in Singapore. Our country is small with 4 racial, we lived harmonily and we speak each other's language. This is a food paradise but it very hot all year round.
I would say, one day if I decide to leave, is because of the weather : )

I went there on vacation and everyone I met was very hospitable and kind. No one talked about leaving and many people I talked to loved their home. I didn't hear anything negative while I was there.
