Well I've used foundation ever since I started wearing makeup and I never take it off at night, but my pores are very small and I don't have the amount wrinkles many people my age do. I think foundation with sunblock actually protects your skin. I also think the less you handle the skin on your face, the less you will break down the support structure underneath and the less likely you are to breakout as you aren't introducing contaminants via your fingers and hands to the skin.

It depends on what type of foundation you are using. Some foundations are more like treatment foundations. They include moisturizers, antioxidants, exfoliants, etc. Your skin is your largest organ and it protects your body. It needs moisture just as much as your internal organs. Being hydrated helps, but if you use skin care products that also boost moisture retention and includes vitamins for the skin - it can be very helpful.
If you are using foundation that clogs your pores and doesn't provide any benefit to the skin, you could see increase in blackheads, etc. You might also see dryer than more or oilier than normal skin.

Nope! With dry and sensitive skin, like ours, its a good thing, an extra barrier against the elements! But keep it light, a good moisturiser first, SPF if your skin can take it and then makeup. I can't use mac, you can see it on my skin! Its too heavy. I use shiseido tinted moisturiser in the summer and Armani Fluid Sheer or Sisley foundation in the winter.
Also, as the other folks have told you, take it off at night! (I've never found anything better than dermatologist recommended, cheap and cheerful Cetaphil. Good Luck!

No. Actually, foudation helps to protect your skin from the sun and other environmental factors. The key is to remember not to sleep with makeup on. Cleanse your face thouroghly every evening.
A good foundation for dry skin is Mary Kay's Full-Coverage Foundation ($14.00)

No, it does not. Some foundations contain ingredients that can irritate your skin and should be avoided. For you, a good, irritant-free moisturizing foundation with SPF can actually help your skin and prevent signs of aging.

I like bare minerals foundation, because it's a powder rather than a heavy cream. Also, make sure that you wash it off at night. Don't do anything sweaty (walking really far, going to the gym) with your makeup on, either.

Everyday use of foundation may cause you to break out. Use a non oily, non comedogenic foundation. But it cannot 'harm' your skin.

i have found that wearing foundation everyday helps prevent my breakouts better than not wearing it at all, I use Neutrogena oil free, skin clearing foundation....you don't have to spend more than about 12 dollars on make up to have great skin
