Yes they can stop the wedding ,

but it must be a valid objection ,

eg; the Bride /groom, are already married to another .
or that the bride is under age and has not her parents consent to marry .
Or they may be closely related ;
sister to brother
stepfather to daughter

these are a few objections that can stop a marriage

THIS is a very rare occurrence at most weddings;

So get married and be Happy!

:)

no in most cases they dont stop the wedding coz the church always announces the wedding for 3 weeks for anyone objecting the wedding and if you dont do so in those 3 wks, then honestly how do you come on the wedding day to stop when the couple have spent too much. the preist always puts this in consideration how much the couple have spent and he cant stop the wedding unless you have a very good reason, which could be a marriage certificate. not even kids can stop the wedding if they were born out of wedlock with his former galfriend/boyfriend.
so relax dont worry.!!!lol

If they have a good reason that would prove violation of state matrimonial laws, it would have to stop. Or if the information suddenly change the mind of the bride or groom, they could opt to stop the wedding.

But if no laws are/were being violated and no one really cared, they wouldn't have to sotp the wedding.

By the way, this isn't said at all weddings. You can write your own wedding, which is what I did, and I didn't include that part. It's dumb.

Ummm... Well normally the wedding stops because for someone to have said that there is a BIG reason for it... Like She's cheating on Him... or something that would alter the relationship totally... Now, does it necessarily have to stop a wedding, no... You could have an instance somehow similar to "Robin Hood: Men In Tights" when something needs to be said or done, but dosen't alter the wedding...

But, in real life, how often does that actually occour...

I've never seen that happen and wouldn't want to. The idea is that if anyone objects to the union, they should state their piece at that time and shut up once the union has taken place - in other words, don't cause the couple any problems in the future. It's an outdated thing to say and the last few wedding I went to, it was not said at all. I wouldn't have it said at my own wedding either. If somebody objects, that's their problem.

Yes they can if someone has a valid reason why a couple should not be wed. The bride or groom is already married or some other circumstance but it would need to be a legal objection.

That would suck. But I think the priest has to stop the wedding otherwise they wouldn't say it. It is a vow before God the whole ceremony not just parts of it. The whole thing is supposed to be followed forever.

It is a final chance for another to profess love for one of the participants or to try to talk one of the participants out of making a horrible mistake. No, they don't stop the wedding unless the bride or groom says so.

I prefer, when driving near a rest area to say "If anyone sees any reason why I should stop this car, speak now or forever hold your pee!!"

yes the wedding must be stopped and the complaint listened to. However it is up to the Bride and Groom to say weather the wedding should go on after the person has had there time to speak.

No, not unless the bride and groom agree with that. Mainly who ever actually stands up is someone who loves the bride or groom & doesnt want to lose them to the other person.. If the bride or groom loves them too more than who ever they are marrying then yes, the wedding is stopped.
