I think Fedorov shot one at like 116 mph or something like that. I bet there have been faster ones that haven't been clocked though.

The answer is the great Bobby Hull.

I had heard the speed was 118 mph but it may have been 120 mph.

He was using a wooden stick and there were no composites at that time.

He was also the fastest skater at around 33 mph and he was the most spectacular player ever IMO.

As time goes by most people just remember the current stars or recently retired ones like Gretzky and Lemieux.

It's a generational type of thing I guess but if you think about it you will see that it is that way in all the sports.

Who talks about Wilt Chamberlain,Ted Williams,Johnny Unitas or Gordie Howe?

Hardest shot ever as recorded at the all star game's skills compitition was Al Iafrate formerly with the Washington Capitals. His slap shot was recorded at 105.2 mph.
Bobby Hull was reported to have had a shot clocked at 120 mph, but I do not know if this was a reliable record of his shot's speed.

as recorded is Al Iafrate at 105 mph at the 1992- 93 skills competition but the puck goes allot faster in a game from a one timer shot it would reach the speeds of about 130 mph to 140 mph.
and for the Bobby Hull shot it was never actually clocked at 120 mph people said that cause it looked like it,and it was an illegal stick.. but Sergei federov clocked 116 mph and he had a legal stick.

not the fastest by a long shot, though he is known for having one of the hardest shots, at an all star game Al Iafrate did a 105.2 mph slap shot..hardest shot recored was 106 mph at an ahl all star game by Shawn Heins...i remember seeing a clip of al macinis shooting in a warm up so hard, it broke the boards, not the glass the BOARD!!!
