Turning on:
Press any button, or
Connect a power source, or
Plug in headphones.
Turning off:
Hold down the play/pause button for 2 seconds, or
Go to settings and apply the "sleep" button to your main screen and then just select that to turn it off, or
Just wait, it will shut off by itself.

Hold the Play/Pause button for about three seconds. If that doesn't work, check to see that the iPod isn't on hold (slide the thing on the top to the left) and try pressing the Play/Pause button again.

Sometimes iPods get weird if they've been turned off too long, and to turn it on you have to hold down the round middle button and the button above it simultaneously. To turn off, hold down play/pause button.

hold the play button.....but what is the point in buying an ipod if you cant turn it off, theres a reason it comes with an owner's manual
