2001 honda accord. Both front and rear tires treadings are worn out about the same. 1) Anyone know if honda accords of 2001 are front or rear wheel driven? 2) When replacing tires is it better to put new tires on front or rear (if you are replacing only 2 out of 4) on a car like this?

The Accord is front wheel drive. Put the new tires on the front, and put the best two of the remaining 4 on the rear. Even though the rear wheels do not power the car, you still want good tires on all four wheels for steering and braking safety.

Another poster said that some tire shops would refuse to sell you just 2 tires if they think that all four need to be replaced. Any tire shop that refuses to sell you what you want, after explaining to you their recommendations, does not deserve your business. They may want you to sigh a release saying that you understand that they recommend that more be replaced, but if they are not wiling to sell you what you want, go elsewhere.

At a shop that I used to use, there was a change in ownership. I was in the office picking up a vehicle, when a customer that I had seen there before came in with a worn tire that had a nail in it. He wanted the tire repaired. The new owner went out to his car and told him that the tire was bad, as was the one on the other side, and they would have to replace both tires. The customer told him he knew the tires were bad, but he was on the way to the dealership 5 miles away to trade the car in. The new owner refused to do what the customer wanted, which was just to plug the tire.

The customer was not going to pay for one new tire, never mind two, so that he could drive the car 5 miles. He went to the shop down the street and they plugged his tire. He never went back to the first shop, and neither did I, because of the way they treated him.

All Accords are front wheel drive, so if you MUST buy only two tires, put them on the front. But beware that many tire shops will not sell you only two tires these days. This is because a car with two new tires and two old tires will not handle properly. In the rain you could have a situation where the fronts will grip fine, and the rears will slip.

Your car is FWD so put the new on front and the next best on the rear. Make sure to have a 4 wheel alignment done soon and have the proper air pressure at all times. Doing this will only double the life expectancy of your tires and save on gas as well.

they are front wheel drive...if only putting two tires on, put them in the front. put the two best remaining on the rear. BUT keep in mind that safety is somewhat compromised if the remaining tread is limited. Make sure that you have exactly the same size tires going on the car

not purely do snow chains artwork, they could properly be required on certian roads at particular circumstances. The interior sight transportation departments or regulation enforcement organizations ought to set up examine stations to ensure that your motor vehicle contains chains, in case of climate ameliorations, or to envision that chains are put in beforehand allowing the motor vehicle to procede into icy street circumstances. if you're purely watching for a unmarried vacation the position those circumstances ought to correctly be encountered, you may evaluate renting chains. In iciness, many vehicle aspects shops and carrying products shops will employ them on your motor vehicle. i chanced on that they don't value that a lot to purchase, and, ever considering one unusual vacation from California to Reno, Nevada, even as it snowed in June, I always keep a collection interior the trunk of my motor vehicle. It takes up little room, and it really is a lot less problem to unpack and repack them each and anytime I make a journey over the Sierra Nevada Mountains. (about 4 circumstances a three hundred and sixty 5 days.)

I'll bet it's a front wheel drive. If so, put the new tires on front.
