it depends if you want to say right in Niagara falls or just outside of it there is a town called Welland its about a 10-15 min drive to the falls. There they have a comfort inn, and ramada inn and a residence which is used as a hotel in the summer and hye have the best deals. Much cheeper than staying right in the heart of niagara.

Whatever you do don't stay on the American side. They have some cheaper one's up Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Don't go to Welland, Ontario either. Try priceline, that's usually the way I book a hotel and always end up at a 3 or 4 star hotel for half the price.

I was there back in October. We found the hotels are cheaper on the American side. We stayed at:
Hampton Inn at Niagara
501 Rainbow Blvd.
Niagara Falls, NY
716-285-6666
$100/total rm per night
Hope this helps!

Just use Expedia.com and look at the hotels a few blocks from the falls rather than the Falls viw ones which are really expensive. Look for hotels on Stanley or Lundy Lane, or that vacinity. There are many to choose from.

Also close to Niagara Falls, is Niagara-on-the-Lake. If it's within your budget you may wan to look at spending a night or two there. Even spending a day there is nice, wineries, spas, shopping, dinning, plays etc.
These are all very nice places:

There's a great US internet site I found which may be of use. You can look at hotels on both US and Canadian side. Being in the UK I have linked to this site through the site below.
Good luck
