A caprice? Yeah. It's okay. The problem comes in if it was used to carry excessive weight in the rear. The axle tends to bow if it was too much. But, other than that, they were not bad. The cops used the sedans for years. :)

No.
It is a very poorly designed and built car, which had a short production run becuase it was the worst vehicle in it's class.
A "big" car does not necessarily mean a safe car, and no GM car or Ford or Chrysler is going to be very reliable, when compared to a better import.
Look at used Mazda Protege's. They are safe, reliable, inexpensive, and even "cool". :-)

Good Luck.

it was safe in its era but no longer....no airbags, or abs. or any of the other innovations from the past 16 years. It is also a 16 year old car. Reliability is relative.....parts will wear out and fail.. Better to buy a later model with more saftety features (including front and side airbags) and lower mileage. Gas mileage is also an issue....

Is this a Roadmaster? White paint with the woodgrain trim? If so, I think those had an LT1 Vette engine in them. Definitely a good buy. Double check the engine. Still a good car, not super on gas mileage though. Good luck.

With the word Chevy in there, I doubt it's very reliable. We had a wagon, it's dead in the driveway now.

yeah, bigger does'nt mean better or safer look at some imports like the honda civic it's cool, reliable. and safe. the problem with chevys is they r american made and americans r lazy and looking for profit not dependability.
