It hasn't for 'true' musicians because it really isn't music. Just poems, and bad ones at that, with 'borrowed' tunes and ultra low frequencies that irriate the true musicians that hate it and I'm one of the true musicians

Why are you blaming hip-hop for the demise of rock music?. Hip-hop is a force to be reckoned with, as was rock in it's prime. I like rock music too, but I don't believe that hip-hop should be the scapegoat for what's going on with rock.

I notice hip hop is more popular than rock nowdays....example, a popular tv station that play music videos use to play adult contemporary music slowly changed to r&b and hip hop, why? To compete with the more "hip" station, and appeal to the younger generation.

Are you crazy?! Rock is alive and...rocking! Hip-hop is just another genre that people may like (or even prefer) but it will never replace rock.

It hasn't replaced anything. If anything, it's getting the recognition it deserves now, and is finally getting the same amount of airplay as rock music. Either way, they're both becoming too poppy these days.

Each generation and each era has their music. This is the hip-hop generation and hip-hop era whether you like it or not, it's here to stay. Cool, don't you think.

it hasn't yet thank God. I guess hip-hop appeals more to the younger crowd who want to think hip-hop is better, when in reality, it is not

Hip hop somewhat contradicts the conventional way in which rock bands are supposed to create music. Especially because we're not in the 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's. duh.
