Limewire CONTAINS Adware / Spyware, thats why it's not allowed.

I do not recommend using Limewire or Kazza or P2P programs because they ALWAYS contain spyware / adware and I have repaired many computers because of the other programs they download in the background with out your knowledge. It's like opening a floodgate and they eventually clog your computer until it's useless.

I use bit torrent. Google it and you will find different programs you can use and many sites to search for files. Caution! It is illegal to copy Copyrighted material.

The speed is determined by not just you but the other users. They might have a slower speed, or there could be heavy traffic (your end or theirs) slowing it down.
Some times other users sending you files log off and your stuck waiting till the next day when they log on again.
There are so many possibilities.

I have had a few 700MB movies take over a Week to get it all, and some never finish because when the other person is done they stop sharing.

Hope this helps, and remember to share at least 110% or for one week which ever comes first to help others.

I see no evidence that AOL spyware protection is any good. If you use Limewire, simply DO NOT walk away from your computer during downloads.

Try this:

Keep your own Anti-virus up to date, and check the status regularly.

Get and update several Anti-spyware solutions. I use AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destroy. I use the free versions from http://www.download.com Update and run these regularly. Especially IMMEDIATELY after an upexpected pop-up.

Download and install FireFox free from http://www.mozilla.com This is a browser that is safer to use than IE. Use this for general surfing and google searching. Only use IE when you MUST have IE, such as Windows Updates.

If you have Windows XP with SP2, activate the Windows firewall and check the status. If you don't, get Zone Alarm the free version from http://www.zonelabs.com

Take these steps to keep your computer ALIVE.

I am unaware of --aol--?its obviously one that i have missed??--but if it is blocking limewire,-it is doing its job--protecting you, from the possibility of getting a virus. If you like, you can disable your firewall,to enable limewire in,but do not allow limewire to run at all times ,or take over your security.--Avast--is one of the best antivirus programs i have ever came accross. It is free, and it does a boot scan,(starts scanning before your computer gets to the welcome screen)--www.avast.com/eng/programs.html---the other thing with limewire,is --always pick the item with the largest number of hits.
