change in hormones

2006-07-12 01:45:34 · answer #1 · answered by fb2kool 3 · 0 1

All humans (men & women) have facial hair. On women, most is so light it's undetectable. But some women, a result of genetics in some cases, have much darker and more prevelant facial hair and arm hair.

Also, as women age, their hormones get out of balance. A lessoning of progesterone or an increase in testosterone can cause facial hair growth.

It's all about hormones. Even though the dominant hormones in a woman are progesterone and estrogen, females still have a minute amount of testosterone (the male hormone) and men have a tiny amount of estrogen. Some women have more testosterone than others and they have a greater chance of getting large amounts of facial hair. Also, as females age, their estrogen count decreases, which in turn may cause the increase of facial hair.

How old are you? I've listed some possibilites below. But I would consult your doctor about this- maybe she/he can prescribe some hormone pills to stabilize your body if you're too young to be approaching menopause.

Changes in hormones.

You're European/Mediterranean and thus naturally hairier than Irish (and other lighter European) women.

Did you shave your face? It may sounds silly, but instead of waxing or bleaching, have you shaved it? If so, it'll get darker and more coarse. Facial hair grows fast even on women once shaved.

Everyone, men and women, have hair all over their bodies except for the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet. That said, some amount and thickness of facial hair is normal -- in fact, expected. We all have it.

However, one's ethnic background, age, genetics, etc. may contribute to facial hair being more coarse and / or darker and therefore more prominent than someone else's.

Some of it's just natural, depending on your ethnic background, but mostly because of hormonal changes as we get older. Depending on your age, it could be an estrogen issue and you should talk to your doctor about it. Ladies get their faces waxed everyday at the beauty salon, so it's a simple fix and you would be surprised how many deal with this problem.

Women have facial hair from the second they are born.
It isn't always very visible, but it's there.
Sometimes it is more visible because of hormones.

You might muscle test yourself for the Progesterone Cream as well as the oestrogen products. Sometimes hair growth can be a progesterone deficiency, rather than an oestrogen deficiency. The premenopausal period can begin in women who are quite young. Check it out and see which one seems to be best for you
