Actually, I have learned a thing or two. If you ask an honest question and receive honest answers, then you might learn something.
But I agree with you that people abuse Yahoo! Answers. I see this thing ending in the future because it's turned more into a message board and chatroom than anything else.

I've learned the there are some really awesome folks out there that actually want to give advice. On the same coin I have learned that there are people out there in la la land that basically get their jollies but acting like dorks and asking questions that even THEY should be ashamed of asking...

Well you certainly learn how bloody stupid some people can be when hanging out in the "ASTRONOMY & SPACE" section long enough.. the number of astrology questions or repeatedly asking if the moon landings were faked (about 10-15times in less than a month!) I've seen there.

I've learned a few things that are not easy to locate online such as translations for words that are not on online dictionaries. I usually do my research before asking.
But, people to do tell me to refer here and there on the internet - without looking for it themselves. The answerers, many times, just look for 2 points, so that kinda sucks for me (to learn) when I have a serious question.
But, yes, I've also seen many questions that are easy to find online.

Yes, there are people on here who don't have anything better to do than think up silly questions so they will see what response is given, have a good laugh, and so on. But yes, I have received some very great advice, have used it to my advantage and thank them very much for taking the time for my question.

I've learned quite a lot, actually. Not just from reading people's answers, but also from doing research to better answer other people's questions.

I have learned a few things, but most of what I have learned I could have just as easily looked up on line.

as a participant in level 4 i will tell you, when it started there were very serious pple with good intelligent questions, and then all of a sudden lunatics discovered this site, and kids too, so thats why you see too much stupidity in here.
but i will say out of every ten questions one is intelligent and probably asked by a grown up, and in most cases its us the pple, from level 4 upwards.

I learned that it's highly entertaining to read the ridiculous questions people ask.
And to respond with even more ridiculous answers.
So, learning, no. Entertaining, yes.
