Yes they can. My good friend's mom actually died from taking doctor prescribed pain-killers. I'm not sure if she took too many or not, but it just shows how dangerous pain-killers can be. It's also possible that the doctor prescribed too strong of a prescription, which is another scary thought.

Hello, obviously I do not know your exact situation, like what kind of PK's how many, dose, and reasons for taking. What I do know is that if they are opiates and you have been taking them from childhood, you must know you are addicted to them. At the very least your liver and pancreas are at serious risk as well as your heart. I have been addicted to pain killers and I am still in treatment. My need for the pills wained shortly after I started taking them, then I was consumed with buying and taking them to feel okay, I like many people had never been involved with anykind of drug(legal and illegal) before, but when I became addicted to the opiate pills,ie vicodin, percocet, oxycotin etc.. my life when to hell and I lost everything that was important to me and I wanted to die. I had gotten help and continue everyday to be clean, and it is very hard, but I know the consequence now. I dont mean to scare you, but too many doctors prescribe to many pills, and they do not fully explain the consequences. I hope I helped you a little. You can email me if you want and we can disscuss it. if not good luck and god bless.-R--gorilla955@yahoo.com

yes, over the long haul painkillers can be very damaging. herbal supplements such as MiGone Plus can aleviate headache pain and cramps as well as flush out toxins. A natural altenative, that will eliminate the causes of headaches instead of just masking the pain. This site has great info. Goodl Luck !

mild analgesics such as paracetamol is toxic to the liver ONLY if you take more than the maximum 8 in a day. on the other end of the spectrum, opiates such as morphine derivatives should be titrated in dosage according to your illness, age and weight. morphine used in palliation is argued by some that it 'finishes you off", but the counter arguement is that the person dies with dignity and is comfortable. you need to discuss your concerns about your pain management with your doctor, as long as you are sticking to your dose, you should be ok. you can also talk to your local pharmacist, as they are experts in drugs. good luck!

Pain-killers are dangerous to use. Even Tylenol, the safest one, causes liver damage with regular use.

Find a doctor who can help you try different NON-drug therapies on your pain.

If you are young you still have time to heal the damage...unless it is liver damage or some types of kidney and heart damage.

Find a better doctor, NOW !!!!!

Please.

Think about this...

If pain killers numb the pain, then you will have less feeling.

If you damage yourself accidentally and you can't feel the pain, infection can set in.

Your body responds to pain to heal itself. No pain, very little healing.

Pain killers should only be used to "take the edge off pain" and not eliminate it. (and only by doctors prescription)

When you are well enough to cope, you should be "weened off" painkillers.

Painkillers can be addictive. (Follow your Doctors Advice.)

All drugs are toxic to the body in some way. Yes, all drugs will shorten your life. Makes you wonder at times if the the cure is really worse than the disease.

Yes. They mess with your internal organs. Your body has to process them like any other drugs.

Taking them based on doctor's orders shouldn't hurt you, and you should tell your dr. if they are hurting you.

If you're taking them for fun, well, they are fun. But if you overdo the fun, you can pay for it big time, sooner or later.
