Laugh out Loud.
These 'slangs' are known as 'Texting Language', 'Text Speak', 'Text Talk' because of popularity of mobiles these days. More characters in a SMS means waste of time and money. Hence this language. There are various abbreviations like BTW (By the way), asl (Age, Sex, Location), dno (do not know), fyi (for your information) etc. You can see this link for more:
