Of course people can have happy lives without money. I've heard it said that the rich are some of the most miserable people on the planet. There are a lot more human needs that contribute to a feeling of happiness than simply security and sources of control / power.

Shouldn't the question be: Can one lead a monied life without happiness?

Absolutely! For proof, just read the daily stories in The National Enquirer! ;)

Oh, okay, here's the real answer: the eye of the needle is too small for me and that's what makes me unhappy...

What amazes me about this world is peoples ideas about money. Yes you can be happy without money, but why would you want to? If you are a good person you will more than likely give a good portion of your money to those who are unable to help themselves out of their situation. Whatever charity you like will be more than happy to take your excess money. And if you think that you can simply help them now, remember a simple physics fact: It is better to help from a position of strength than a position of weakness.

It really depends on what you are after in life. As for me, i dont have money but i am happy because i dont need to dine at fine restaraunt, i dont need a Gucci bag and i dont have to shop at Saks 5th ave. I just need 3 full meals a day and partner that loves me and a dog who runs to me every time i come home.

Of Course. Money just makes life liveable but what is the true meaning of life. I know it isn't money. I think it is love and happiness.

Happiness is not in any way related to amount of money you have.....money brings other things into life...tension, anxiety, enemies, competition......what i think is the less you have the more contented and happy you are........

I think money enough to meet your daily needs is sufficient.
