Hypnosis is hugely beneficial and also a perfectly natural human state which we all go through many times of day believe it or not. I work as a Hypnotherapist.
I guarentee that you have experienced a hypnotic state yourself. Whenever you have daydreamed or drifted off into your own thoughts when driving or watching a tv program... that is a hypnotic state. Every person on this planet experiences hypnosis of some kind many times everyday or thier lives. Therefore you cannot get "stcuk" in a hypnotic trance. So when people warn you off it, they are often people with no EXPERIENCE or KNOWLEDGE of it.
What you see on stage is totally different, when you are in a "trance" you still know the truth regardless of the suggestion. If you are on stage and are asked to bark like a dog, you know you are doing it, and you know it will raise a laugh. If the suggestion was to do it at your wedding, your subconscous mind would reject the notion and not allow you to do it coz you know it is wrong and inappropriate. So you cannot be made to do things against your will.
HYPNOSIS IS NOT MIND CONTROL.......HOWEVER, it can help you unlock your potential if you want to. I repeat, you cannot be made to do anything you do not want to do. For those answerers who try and warn you off it will have had probably no or very little experince of it and what it can help you do.
If you are going to see a hypnotherapist, make sure you can verify their accreditation with the relevant national body that they are a part of. Also go by recommendation if you can, their is no better testimony.
Good luck

I knew a guy who did it on the side and was a very unpleasant character. He said he did it to his father, and seemed to enjoy the fact that his father placed himself in his control. Also he taught ballroom dancing and claimed he hyponotised the dancers in an attempt to teach them the dancing on a deeper level. The bottom line was that that could have all been BS and he may not have been able to do it at all, but it was clear that he got interested in it because it made the subject vulnerable to him. Therefore, I don't think the therapy is dangerous necessarily, but the so-called therapist might well be (whether they are actually able to do it properly or not), so pick him or her carefully.

Potentially; it depends on the "therapist". Check that the credentials they offer are genuine. Someone whose been in business a while might be a better bet.
And whatever you may have heard you absolutely CAN be hypnotised into doing something gainst your will; unless you believe that someone could act out eating a raw onion while believing its an apple and pretend they enjoy it.
And there have been a spate of reports of street muggings where the victims have been hypnotised into emptying their wallets or drawing money out of cashpoints.

No, it is not dangerous, but find a qualified person if you want it to be effective. Contrary to what you may believe, you cannot be hynotized into doing things against your will or nature. It is a very good way to learn how to relax, to relieve stress and cope with difficulties you may be experiencing in life. If you want a CD to listen to at home, try Paul McKenna.

As long as you check the hypnotherapist is registered then no, My doctors surgery has a clinic so it must be safe. I dont think you are actually hypnotised just put into deep relaxation. My sis had it to help her weight loss and she said it was really nice.

I don't trust hypno"therapists" at all.
I don't trust the side-effects of hypnotic orders they inject into minds.
I suggest you not to trust them either.
