having posted 106 questions that are all of questionable reasoning and based on your alleged travels it makes me wonder why on earth you are asking these questions....

From personal point of view I own a persian carpet. Perhaps it was made by slaves too. I do not know.

Yes I am against slavery in all its forms. I am against child labour in any and every country.

There is something you personally can do to resolve the situation.

Since you are wealthy enough to jet set around the world I suggest you go to India and Pakistan again and this time do not pay the really cheap prices for your purchases and services while there, instead pay what would be the equivalent price here in Australia.

And

While there establish a carpet making business and employ adults only in the business and pay them wages equivalent to Australian wages and then sell the carpets overseas and promote them as Fair Deals For Everyone kind pf products....

Now there is an answer for you....

I agree that sometimes the carpet factopry owners do not provide standard facilities to children working for them.

But , those children work there because they need it.

Carpet weaving is not easy and skill learning takes time. These children can not afford even 3 meals a day at home. At times even one full meal is luxery.

This way they get a place to live, food and learn to make a living.
the conditions are not good because factory owners also do not earn as much as middle man and off course customers do not want to pay more.

Wanna improve situation for children?

Buy it. Do not insist to stop child labour. Insist better working condition for them and Be ready to pay more for it.

Not buying it will close down the factory all together. Those factory owners cannt afford to train grown ups and bear their expenses for years of proper training.

they also say that grown fingures , if not trained early enough do not have enough flexibility and skill.

Second reasons is adults have family responsibilities and do not stick for years on minimum vages just to learn skills.

Not buying will mean "startvation" for those very children , you are so worried about.

You prefer them dead or begging on streets instead?

When I buy stuff that's made in poor countries it helps their economies and helps the people feed themselves.

If those carpets stopped being made, those people would starve to death.

It's up to the local gov't, and the UN, and public (world) outcry to stop child labor. But some child labor is good. I had to work at a truck repair shop when i was 12. I learned how to fix things. It wasn't a bad thing. Now I have a skill.

would the kids be hungry if they weren't allowed to make carpets?

I was the youngest kid in my family. My dad died. I remember working at my mom's business until midnight on school nights.

I think it was good for me. We did what we had to do. As do they. I'm glad my mom had her business. They're glad that we buy their carpets.

Do you want them to die? Have you thought this through?

They exist on the small wages they get. Take it away and they starve!!!!!!!

Don't encourage people not to buy but campaign for action to ensure the wages and conditions are improved.

Positive action beats negative action everytime.

its true that they are treated badly but u must buy them. their condition won't get better if u don't buy it. it will become even worse since their employers(or masters?) will not free them but make their lives hell.
what we should do is try to make education available to them so that they know what's right and improve their future by fighting for their rights.
