I just looked at the leaderboard and was staggered, flabberghasted...honestly my ghast has never been so flabbered (to quote Frankie Howard): I don't understand this: guys with 5 million points that have answered 70,000 questions, man that takes a long time to do...
It doen't seam to be most fulfilling use of people's time and I am not sure I agree that Yahoo should be be 'rewarding' people by compiling stats: it doesn't seam very responsible to me....
What do you think?

I do not think that POINTS is the motivational thing here.
1. To help people, by sharing your knowledge (or opinion).
2. To actively participate in sharing your opinion to pressing issues to the day.
3. To meet people.
If the questions came from mindless robots, people wouldn't bother to answer. If the questions were answered by mindless robots, people wouldn't ask.
It doesn't matter to me that I am level 5 with nearly 7,000 points and over 1500 answered questions. (But HIT ME with the BEST ANSWER and give me the 10 point bonus... I thank you in advance).

I enjoy taking a break from work to answer only those questions I feel capable of answering. Don't worry about the leaders. Most answers are of very poor quality. I wonder how many really good answers those "leaders" provided? If you enjoy it, do it, and don't worry about quantity over quality. Ignore the leader board. I looked at it my first day and haven't bothered with it since.

Don't use the site if you don't like it. But I guess it could be like gambling, or drinking, or ANYTHING, some go overboard.
My purpose for answering questions is to help people correct computer problems so they don't have to pay expensive repairs. To people like me. (see source below)
It's like the show "Whoes Line Is It Anyway" the points don't matter. (but there nice to get.)
And this question is in the wrong category.
