if the stars are melting pots of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur, yes it is true. these elements were the first elements in the planet even before the atmosphere is born.
of course, since the early earth was hot almost all of them , the elements, are in the gaseous state.

While you do contain some of the same elements that are in stars...they occur in different proportions. Also...stars contain radioactive elements while you tend not to!
