yes. there are challenges to conquer to achieve this;

* A challenge..... we will have to find a way to make all of life's necessities available to all human beings on our planet. food, clothing, shelter, education, etc.
* A challenge.....all human beings must live the realization that we are all one in the same regardless of race, color, greed. we must live this as a universal truth.
* A challenge....while living the truth that the parts are as great as the whole, we must honor each others unique gifts and make available the opportunity of to express them.
* A challenge....we are a competitive race. we must find a way to use this competitive energy in a positive constructive arena.
*A challenge......we must take back the concept and value of "community". we must not live such an isolated life and it starts in our own back yard.
*A challenge......always, always honor all beliefs when we answer the universal question relating to God or better put, where do we come from and why.

Yes. I almost hate to play the religious card, but this is described in Revelation. The "anti-Christ" is going to unite the World. Now could this be done prior to that is proably closer to what you are asking. It would be very difficult and I don't think it will. Look at the differences, heck look how disfunctional the U.N. is. That is the closest thing to one we have right now and it can't really function. There are too many different forms of Govt, which have different views that are important. I mean can you imagine trying to work out the differences just between the U.S. and Europe?

A one-world government would never work. Every country has its own cultures, beliefs and customs. What one country considers completely acceptable can mean the death penalty in others.

Besides, I don't think anyone would honestly want one person or group of people in charge of the entire world.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

They can, they will, and they must. But they have to mature to the point where the greater good exceeds the needs of the minority.
