because they don't have anything better to do in their lives.

It's hard to like someone that is constantly trying to sell themselves. Ego is important in entertainment, because it's a harsh business, but it backfires when it comes across to the public. The industry just hops on one thing and won't let it go until they're sure they've exhausted every last dime, and the next thing you know, the celeb in the has-been pile.
It really isn't so much jealousy as distain. Nothing is worse when a young starlet claims she wants to be left alone yet continues to release new material. If they're not happy as celebs, why don't they find a new line of work? Or when they claim not to be role models! That's the most ridiculous oxymoron ever!
Or when something is promoted just because money has been poured into it, when it's all about the marketing alone. Overexposure causes celebs to become a joke. Let's face it, money can't buy everything.
Some things that are free are priceless.

Nowdays I think people dislike them so much because you don't feel they deserve where they are, that they really have the talent to be there or anthing above the rest of us to be there. In the classic era you really felt these people were remarkable but nowadays they are so ordinary, often they are ordinary if the come from reality shows. People didn't want celebrity's to be everyday people just like them. They want to feel these people have earned some right to be looked up to. Or it is the opposite and they do envy their beauty or their talent. Or they just need someone to transfer all their bitterness and annoyance in life over to and they are a ready target as they are so publicised all the time. I guess I just find alot of todays stars irritating because of the shallow world they represent. The values they market that the world lives by that really aren't worth anything. It is people like brittany spears who annoy me the most. They are in the position of being a role model and they wanted to be in that position but they won't take responsibility for it. But then other days I'm just annoyed at the way people are stupid enough to look up to them or expect they would be any more than human. But celebrity's nowadays lack any real talent often other than digital effects. They truly are just static images or sounds on tapes. There are so many really talented people that must fall through the cracks just because they don't look or act the right part.

It's just human nature unfortunately, I'm sure a lot of people 'hate on' other normal people too, it's just that a lot of people think they know celebrities, so they use them as something to ridicule or be mean to. A lot of celebrities have far more problems than the ordinary person, but unfortunately the media decides to say things like 'hasn't so and so got a big bottom' and 'isn't so and so too skinny' and 'why does so and so behave like that', it's to do with them being famous, the problem is once you are a famous person, it's difficult to get rid of any media attention, whether it be good or bad! (Hope this makes sense)

It is not just celebrities job to act, or sing, or do whatever it is that they do, but it is also their job to entertain us. so entertainment shows such as et, the insider, and acsess hollywood, tell alot about the celebrities and their lives, most of it is not even true. And they just take everything so far, this leads everyone to have an opinion (whether it is negative or postive) on every celebrity. Not to mention the tabloids.
but some celebrities that have been some major targets are:
micheal jackson
martha stewert
bill clinton
nick lachey
jessica simpson
brittany spears
and more

What and who are you talking about? If you mean people making fun of people, for instance, Paris Hilson -- because she doesn't have talent - just raised rich and she's not intelligent. Most people have a certain tolerance to stupid people. You need to be more specific.

If you mean the likes of Paris Hilton, I very highly disapprove of her, and the glorification of her filthy behavior.
Is that what you meant?
