when respraying a car door which is off another car and is another colour if the existing paint is perfect do i need to undercoat it

you have to take off all the other paint - then undercoat it - then spray it the colour you want. unless you don't mind driving a cat with an "odd" door.

Are you talking about undercoating, which is generally a rust protection coating or primer, which is used to help the new paint hold to the door?
I assume you are really talking about a primer coat. And yes, you should put down a primer coat to help the new paint adhere to the door.
