Passion vine, or passion flower. Look in health food stores. They say to make a tea, but I have my own vine and prefer to smoke it. Its a high like mid-grade marijuanna. The powder, which is sold in health food stores, is used to treat hypertension and insomnia.

Well, things I use are natural tobacco in a hookah, kava kava when you drink the ground up herb it actually makes your mouth numb, and believe it or not simple Oxygen! Also, when I go into a truly focused meditation I get "high" so you dont always need an herb to get you on that level.
I highly agree with the occultists w/ lots of experience though as far as researching what you are doing. Just because its legal doesnt mean you cant have an allergic reaction. Maybe try just a little first & see what happens.
Good Luck!

Now with some herbs you have to becareful. Salvia ( the one that people talk about) is not all what its cracked up to be. You have to be careful. Depending on what the ceremony is, is what herb you use. Many herbs, if not used right, will cause an adverse reaction. There is Aztec Gold, which is ok. It has some salvia in it, and is considered an alternative to tobacco. Do more research before do any ceremony. Going into a ceremony half-hearted, just leads to bigger mess-ups.

essential oils are NOT the answer unless you know the properties of the oils being used and in particular so-called "blends" with various name used to induce their use are not something one would want to use in a ritual ceremony. I agree with the person who said the ingredient you need is dependent on the ceremony you are going to perform. The vibrations you intend to use will be amplified by the ingredient and or open a door to the result the ceremony is intended for. Most herbs that are suggested are best prepared by a trained shaman someone who has lots of experience with herbs and is aware of where and how they were grown and the climatic conditions during their growth this is necessary because the potency of the herb is dependent on these things.

It really depends on the Ceremony!
Salvia Divinorium is an option, it's used by the Shamans in Mexico, but if you have never tried it before....I STRONGLY suggest you read up lots about it first!!! It is NOT a 'fun' drug.
What's the purpose of the Ceremony?

Okay, this'll sound stupid, but when I used to do ceremonial public speaking,I'd take a big swig of ice cold peppermint schnappes about 10 minutes before the ceremony.
The alcohol removes inhibitions, and the high sugar content adds a pleasant buzz, while the menthol opens up your sinus cavities.
I didn't drink enough to get drunk, mind you,but the menthol will still give you heart-burn.

Essential oils is the answer!
Like Frankincense, Lavender, the blend of various essential oils called Valor, another called Three Wise Men, and a host of other single oils and blends.
All of which are perfectly legal and very powerful.

I popped in to say Salvia, but I see someone already beat me to it. I'd like to point out that there are many illegal drugs in this world, and you shouldn't mess around with them. I'm also not your mom, so I won't beat you over the head with this.
There is a website called erowid, on which people can post their subjective experiences with drugs, illegal and otherwise. You can go there for tips, if you want to call them that.
