Assuming this was a stranger who killed my loved one and that it was not the result of something my loved one chose to get involved with, I would do everything in my ability to see that person convicted. If this was the end result of bad choices on the part of my loved one, I would do my best to forgive,on the theory that if my loved one involved himself willingly with a dangerous situation, then he had assumed even this risk.... I'd be angry, but almost as mad at my relative as at the other person.
There is no circumstance under which I would track down and kill the killer of my adult relative.

I suppose it would depend on how soon after-the-fact I learned about it!
If I was there when it happened or arrived just after-the-fact...I'd probably take matters into my own hands & kill the s.o.b....After all, You're in danger, too & the murderer is on your property...You're distraught & No Jury will convict you of Murder!
I'd rather take care of it myself, right there-and-then, compared to dragging it all out in a long court case...and possibly seeing the Killer walk free due to an Insanity Plea!?
If the Cops are already on the Scene...the murderer is either in custody or has fled...You'll have to go thru the agonizing, drawn-out Court Process. Too Late Now - You could be charged with murder, if You followed through!
Forgiveness?...Possibly after a very Long Trial & a True Belief that the Perpetrator was Remorseful...and it was a Crime-of-the-Moment? Hope I never have to consider this Last Question?

If someone murdered a member of my family, I would be in court every day observing the trial. I would ask the judge to give this person life with no parole. I wouldn't forgive, I wouldn't forget, and I'd show up at every parole hearing until I died. I don't know about an eye for an eye, killing some pig wouldn't make up for the loss, all it does is make you feel good while you are doing it. Emptiness would be the consequence.
I'd ask for life, and then do my best to see that he/she served it.

Now what is best may not be what I do and how could someone actually say for sure..I would hope that I could forgive a person who did such a horrible thing but yes I think a person who would kill someone should be in prison..no I would hope that I would not kill anyone if it could be helped I would kill to protect my family but I would hope that I would not kill in retribution and I am presently against the death penalty for many reasons..but it is a guess for anyone who hasnt been in that situation to say how they would handle it i dont think anyone would know unless it happened to them.

First I would certainly try to do everything possible to have them put in prison. I'm not a person who kills other people - I can't imagine myself being that person. If I were to kill him, then not only would the person have killed my relative, but he would have made me a murderer. I can keep him from doing that by not killing him. (Sorry if that's a little convoluted).
If he didn't go to jail, I might put a hit on him (so I wouldn't have to kill him, but he would have paid for killing my relative). I can't imagine knowing that the person who did that was walking around free, so that's probably what I would do.

looking at this from military experience, most peoples reaction is to hunt down this person and kill him, this is heat of the moment, before the mind has had time to clear. that doesn't mean that in time your mind would change. but the right thing to do is to bring this person to justice..........as for your last question if your a true christian you can learn to forgive but you will never forget

It's all speculation. One never knows how they would react until actually faced with a situation. It's very easy to think you might know. It's much harder in the face of an actual life-changing event.

I would make sure that criminal goes behind bars for rest of his life , b'coz each day h'll be reminded of the heathenous deed he did . Killing him would be a too easy punishment , besides it wont bring my family back . I guess i'll make sure that the bastard is reminded each day about his cruel asct

Try to get him/her through the law and let him/her be punished by law. But personally, no matter how hard it is try to get over it, otherwise it will be your life's work till the day you die. Remember that you do have your own life to live and it won't be everlasting. Make space for the living, they need you most.
