My boyfriend Jeremy Durham died on 7/26/04 in Oregon. His body was brought to Utica, Ms. for burial. His death certificate lists White Oak Cemetary, in Utica as his burial spot. No one in Ms. including the funeral home who had his services (Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home) have heard of this cemetery or know where it's at. I have been unable to find where he is burried, despite many attempts and it seeems ridiculous! Aren't there any state records, registries, laws to abide by, or anything to help me locate him? Is it strange that the funeral home is unable to solve my question? Afterall, they recieved his body, "prepared him for burial", and conducted his funeral service. . . why don't they know where he went from there? Especially in such a small place as Utica??? I am desperate to locate where Jeremy has been burried and to learn what his gravesite, headstone, and surroundings look like. ANY help would be appreciated. (funeral was 8/8/04 Utica Ms.)

The Funeral Home should have records since it was in 2004. I searched and found that there is a White Oak Cemetery in Copiah, County, shown as "White Oak Cemetery (Utica West). Another similar search says it's a Baptist Church cemetery so there may be two of them. I found a map site (http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/localList.php?local=19834&locTGroup=Cemeteries&direction=down) that has two of them shown.

Hope this helps. If you still can't find him, try the genealogy groups from these pages and see if someone there can find his grave for you. You can also ask someone for a randon act of genealogic kindness from RAOGK.org) in the area to take a photo of the headstone.
