'Family Planning' operations generally involve tubal sterilization - a small operation where the fallopian tubes are ligated so that the ovum and sperm dont unite in the ampulla and you don't get pregnant. It is more than 98% effective in preventing pregnancy.
So, for all practical purposes, you could say it is safe to have sex without her getting pregnant.
