I have 2 notches in the "mistake" column as of yesterday.

I've referred to sex with other people as "a mistake", but it seems awfully rude to actually tell the person that. (The one exceptions was the case where the guy was "confused" at the time, but didn't really tell me that, and I further explained to him what I meant by "mistake").

I wouldn't be too surprised to find that I was someone else's mistake, I guess. ::shrug:: It happens.

"Oooops, I thought you were somebody else?"

"Oooops, I was reaching for the alarm clock and oops...there we were?"

I suppose by mistake, you mean a bad decision was made. I think that's a pretty harsh thing to say to somebody. Maybe it's a cop-out. Because what they are really saying is, "I wanted to have sex with you, but I didn't intend for it to mean something." Sex doesn't have to mean enternal love (woudn't that be nice) but it should always mean something.

Only a girl I once dated who said the same in hindsight, years later - having, latterly, identified herself as a lesbian.

it happens quite often when you're in college (alcohol makes you dumb things) but if this is happening after graduation, then it's usually a symptom of some personal psychological issue on your part...
