She probably left out baking powder or baking soda.
I have not heard of using "yeast" unless I was baking bread.
It didn't rise, because she forgot to turn "on" the oven. (Chuckle)
I am a baker, not a chemist, sorry.

She forgot baking powder or sodium bicarbonate

NaHCO3

When sodium bicarbonate is heated, it decomposes and releases CO2. These tiny bubbles of gas are released into the cake and that is why its volume increases ... it rises.

She didn't add yeast, yeast makes cakes rise. I don't know the chemical composition, because yeast is a bacteria. But when you add water to yeast, it releases gases, causing the cake to rise.

who told you yeast is wrong! yeast is only used for pastry not cake!

It is baking soda which causes cake to rise.

It is made of bicarbonate of soda.

It did not rise, because it is a raising agent.
