Man, this is a mess. I could not agree more, this is theft and the funny thing is it's legal!! why cause we sign those stupid membership agreement papers!
If you think HSBC are thieves, try Citibank, they are even worse!

Christianity is the international greatest faith 33% to 17%, it really is completely once you smash out ALL Christian Protestant communities that Islam is more suitable. evaluate the actual undeniable actuality that in case you go away Islam in a lot of international locations you or your kin receives that is heads reduce off. Wait till there is somewhat freedom of religion and observe what takes position, even if it somewhat is EXACTALLY what the osama's and Terrorists are deathly frightened of. in case you do not have self belief that there isn't any freedom of religion in a lot of Arab international places, try preaching about the recent testomony interior the streets of Saudi Arabia, see how lengthy you stay. Peace be with you.

Hmmmm, that is really strange. I have had an account with them for the last 14 year and have never wanted to change, i even got my boyfriend to change to them as his bank ripped him off big time. I have had a overdraft with them before for about £800 and they charged about £5.00 a month if i used it. If i have ever went over my overdraft for more than a week they have never even charged me for going over. I must be very lucky. Them charges they want you to pay are outrageous. ( dont think that is spelt right )

I don;t wish to sound trite, but try budgeting better, if you don't go overdrawn they cannot rip you off on charges. All the banks love to charge you for borrowing their money - especially unauthorised borrowing. Don't let them piss you off, just learn the lesson and sort your finances out. If you don't give them the opportunity to rip you off - they simply can't. HSBC is no worse than most of them. Good luck.

hi king of clubs
nearly 10 years ago when they were known as midland, i had a similar problem. i would in explicable go 50p in the red, (for as i recall i am not in the habit of withdrawing pocket change) the 'bankers' would charge me £20 to inform me i had gone overdrawn. this would happen on a regular occasion. i switched banks in the end, however this meant paying the extortionists.
in this situation its probably best to speaker to citizens advise who will refer you to specialist adviser if they cant help. from my limited knowledge it is possible to put a freeze on the interest and charges. again citizens advise can advise on this.
the other option is to write/email to the money section of one of the weekend national papers such as the observer, mirror etc.
a bit of bad publicity generally gets results.
good luck in your quest

Sadly, it is legal for them to do it. Lloyds TSB charged me £286 in one month once for paying a direct debit i had asked to be cancelled 4 days previously. I fought them and eventually (18 months later), won.

Feel for you.... Yes they are the biggest thieves!! I got a £30 charge for a returned direct debit because it took me 4p, yes thats 4 PENCE over my limit and then they slaped another £30 charge for their "administration fees" on the returned debit!!! Stupid!
If anyone can explain these "administration fees" and whats involved to cost £30 quid, please let me know!

Go to your local CAB office and have them fight your corner.
Not that it will do any good, as the banks are like a little mafia family; take your money from under your nose and then bill you for it.
In fact, the mafia at least poports to have honor - Banks have none!

They are scum. Go and see the Citizens Advice Bureau, then write to the Banking Ombudsman.
