Because he had such a painful and harsh childhood, Gaara needs someone who is willing to always stay by his side and someone who is willing to accept him for everything that he is. He's not too much of a talker so I think that he'd be better with off someone who isn't shy or talk very little. I mean, imagine him being stuck in the same room with someone like Hinata. The room will be filled nothing but silence.
Now as for Ino and Tenten, I can't see them ever developing any feelings for Gaara because their personalities just don't suit him. Ino seems to go for guys that are like Sasuke and we just don't know enough about Tenten to make any assumptions. Sakura on the other hand I think will be the best match for him. Granted, there's the whole thing with Sasuke but I still think that she's the best choice out of the four possible female characters in Naruto. In the post time-skp, she is strong in both mind and strength and also caring. She'll embrace his past and always support him no matter what happens.

Do you not like the girls in Naruto? Why would you do that to them? Gaara -as he is - should not be in a relationship with anyone. Can you imagine if they had one of those little fights people in relationships always have? "What? You want to do the dishes? I'll Sand Coffin (whatever he calls it) you!" Blood goes everywhere, girl dies, Gaara needs a new girlfriend.

But if you think about it Hinata Gaara isn't so bad if Naruto wasn't there :)).
