Maria, the robot from Fritz Lang's film, Metropolis, who has the first robot to be portrayed in cinematic history. Not only was the cinematography of the creation absolutely brilliant, but the curves and shapeliness of the character are mind-boggling given that the film was made in the 1920s.

Joe (aka the Proud Robot) of the Henry Kuttner series about a professional inventor, Gallegher Galloway, who can only invent when blind drunk, which is a good part of the time. Whenever Gallegher sobers up, he has completely blacked out the time that he was drunk, but he has a new invention in the shop whose purpose he has to figure out because when drunk he takes absolutely no notes. Joe was invented to open beercans without spraying anything, but because Gallegher was drunk, he also gave Joe about fifteen amazing powers which Joe refuses to reveal because the only thing Joe is interested in doing is looking at its own image in the mirror and singing about how beautiful it is.

O yes i like Johnny 5 too but my favourite has to be the one in Batteries included? You know it's actually two and they have babies, go on to save the people in their building from nasty developers! It's such a great movie!
