Eliminating preface straight away to the point, my suggestion would be for Lakshadweep islands. I presume that you are Indian national as entry is restricted for foreigners, they can go to only two prescribed islands in Lakshadweep - Agatti and Bangaram.
At Lakshadweep, there are 36 islands and from all practical angles, one can visit Kavarati - the capital, Minicoy, Agatti, Bangaram, Kalpeni and Kadmat. These are the most visited islands and have reasonably good tourist facilities - as per their local standards.
Traveling among these islands at will in not convenient and dependent on carriers' timings. Private movements are costly to very costly. Yet each of these islands have their own beauty, charm and compelling attractions. One has to plan trip if wish to move around on different islands. Keeping in mind the occasion, you should go Bangaram, Agatti, Minicoy or Kavarati in this order of preference.
When in Minicoy island, you are just 4 hours away from Maldives by sailing at 18 nautical miles per hours. It has one of the oldest and very well maintained Light House, built in 1885. Trip to the top of the Light house is possible/arranged.
What do you get in Lakshadweep islands: They have unique live Coral Reefs, crystal clear water at beaches changing colours every 200 meters - white, green, blue..., view of underwater marine life even with your naked eyes, underwater trips in Arabian sea with instructors even if you don't know swimming, abundant beauty of the nature on surface and at sea -surroundings, wide lagoons; Scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, glass bottom boat rides and other regular water sports. Most of the islands have women dominated social life with Muslim population.
You should not expect huge crowd of humans at these islands, big bazaars or shopping areas, modern passenger vehicles, too much luxuries, and hectic movement of vehicles and humans.
Traveling to these islands is either by air or cruise. One airport is at Agatti with regular Indian flights then helicopter /ship / big motorboat transfer to other islands.
January is one of the most sought after time at these islands.

For beaches go to the andaman islands for sure..or if possible ladakhsweep..
Go karna near goa is extreemly beautifull but packed with dreadlocks..No good for a honey moon..did you know that if you follow the ganges up from rishikesh..about 15 kilometers in the middle of nowhere is a beautifull guesthouse ..with amazing sandy beaches..stunningly beautifull and peacefull..idael for sunbathing and swimming in the clear ganges!higly recommended!
But yeah go to the andamans..Find out wich beaches are good(because I think only the beaches on the east-side are sandfly free.
You will never get bored..you can find a deserted island there and just build a hut and stay there
Dont even think about it ;go there ..its without any doubt the best! But if you have money(its expensive..definitly go for the comfortable and beautifull Ladakhsweep,or to the very touristic and expensive maldives. feel frree to askmore or check out my website www.bavos.bravehost.com
