Hi I just had a tummy tuck and hip liposuctiondone 3 days ago, (In Connecticut....NOT INDIA!!!) and I feel great! BUT - my doctor is amazed at my recovery time. It really depends on how healthy and physically fit you were before your need for the tummy tuck. (I needed it because I had twins three years ago and my stomach was just totally stretched beyond it's limits; people were still asking me "when I was due!" But I was fairly active before that.)
As far as going back to work, I'd give yourself a solid 2 1/2 or 3 weeks. You will probably have to have these "drains" put in you (I already had one removed today!), and wear a "girdle" thing to help keep everything in, so YOU WILL BE HUNCHED OVER. I am walking fairly upright already, but I've been told that other people were hunched over for several weeks. And your back will hurt, but that's what the pain meds are for!

Overall, you really need to look at your overall health before anticipating your recovery time, because it truly depends on the individual. I am EXTREMELY happy with my results and my recovery already....my stomach is FLAT! I'm a teacher and have the summer off, so if you can plan on having a solid 3 weeks of vacation, go for it! It was well worth it for me! Hope this helps.

The procedure itself should not be painful as some type of anesthesia will be used. For the first few days during the recovery, patients may feel some discomfort or pain which can be controlled with medication prescribed by your surgeon.

Unlike other abdominal surgery, such as a hysterectomy, a tummy tuck does not go into the muscle or inside the abdomen. Therefore, the discomfort from a tummy tuck is significantly less, and easily managed with pain medication. Most patients are fairly comfortable the day after surgery. Many patients are done taking pain pills after the 3rd or 4th day.

You will need to take it easy for 2 weeks. For 3-4 weeks you will wear a velcro binder which fits easily under clothing. For 6 weeks you will have lifting restrictions including no abdominal exercise. After that, all restrictions will be eliminated. You can resume any exercise program and return to all normal activities.

Depending on what type of work you do, most people take off about 7-10 days. You will still need to be careful about lifting restrictions and doing too much, even though you'll feel well enough to do just about anything.

It will be fairly painful as there will be quite a lot of inflammation post operatively. Inflammatory pain is harder to treat effectively than muscular pain but it will be less severe than if the surgeon had to incise into muscle.

How quickly you can return to work depends entirely on what sort of work you do and how quickly you heal. No two patients react the same way to an operative procedure.

Your anaesthetist should take care of your pain control needs, discuss your concerns about pain with them when they come to see you pre operatively. Follow there advice and you should be fine. Also Follow the advice of your surgeon re when you can lift etc. He/She is the one who did the tuck so they will no how long it will be before you can lift etc.

As people are so different there is no generic answer to this question.

Get tummy tuck surgery in India.Cosmetic Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible.

As a doctor i personally believe that your cosmetic surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.If you still havent got your surgery done, you are better off getting it done in India.

my cousin got her breast reduction/liposculpture/buttoc... lift surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare.she is more than very happy with the results.she just paid 30% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise fore this forerunners healthcare company.i personally have seen the wondeful results and am particularly impressed with the kind of quality care she got from this company.I am sure they will help you also with the best.be
