I have about 10 days to spend in India. I am particularly interested in seeing Taj Mahal and visit Ajmer Dharga.

Wrobinhood has indicated on your route. Visit to Taj Mahal (Agra) can be undertaken from Delhi itself. While in Agra seeing Taj Mahal, you may also avail the day vising Sikandara and Agra Fort, which are very close by.

Jaipur and Ajmer are in the same direction from Delhi, but different direction from Delhi to Agra. You can combine Jaipur and Ajmer trip. In fact if you go to Ajmer from Jaipur by cab/taxi you can come back to Jaipur in about 10 hours comfortably. Delhi to Jaipur is about 260 kilometers, 5-6 hours journey by direct deluxe bus or 4 1/2 hours by car. Delhi to Agra is 200 kilometers.
Roads to all the three destinations, Agra, Jaipur and Ajmer are good from Delhi.

You can plan 3 days for Bangalore and 7 days for Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Ajmer combined.

First go to Delhi... spend 3 days. Agra(which is where the Taj is located) can be a morn-eve trip by train. You an alternatively go to Jaipur from Agra. Spend 2 days there. Another day for Ajmer and back. Night stay at Ajmer. Then fly to Bangalore either via Delhi or Mumbai (no direct flight to B'lore from Jaipur ) I would recommend Mumbai because Delhi is farter. Ajmer-Mumbai can be done by road. Mumbai B'lore 90 min flight vs Delhi Bangalore which is 140 min. Airlanka conmnects to Colombo...

There are direct flights from Colombo to Bangalore. Spend two days in Bangalore and take a direct flight to Delhi. Agra is about 4 hours drive from Delhi. You can spend 2 days in Delhi and 1 day in Agra. And on the same day you can go to Jaipur which is about 4-5 hours drive (You can take a public transport like bus).

So thats 5 days in all. In Jaipur you can spend 2 days and you can spend one day to go to Ajmer Dharga and back to Jaipur. So thats 8 days. Leave 2 days as buffer to account for travel time and any unforeseen delays.

Hope this helps, have a nic etime in India :)

Bangalore - 1 day. (not much to see here, and terrible traffic/infrastructure). Only reason to increas ur stay here would be going to Ooty (don't bother with Mysore).

Delhi + Agra - 3 days (agra can be covered via a taxi ride from delhi)

Jaipur - 4 days. (include couple of other cities like Udaipur here)

If u can find time go to Mussorie(next to dehradoon) - u will love it there.
