Well, Mexican army did help New Orleans after Katrina (or was it anotherone?).

About USA being a bully, I think most of the time they don't, but lately USA have been getting into a lot of foreign problems. That's ok, if they ask you your help. I know about the Good Neighbor Policy and I think it is good; but about the USA being the international patroll, there's already an international patroll in which the USA takes an important role: the UN. If any nation does something with the UN's permission that's ok (as long as if what they allow you to do is ok). But if any country takes decisions, specially concerning foreign affairs --such as declaring war, etc.-- against the UN, then that nation could be called a bully. It's like a citizen making justice by himself without calling the police.

Let's remember this quote: "Among people, as among nations, respect for the rights of others is peace" -- Benito Juarez--

I hate to say it, but in many ways, we are a bullying nation. We needed Bush or someone like him after 9-11, but we probably shouldn't have reelected him, and mind you, I voted for him both times, so I am one American issuing a mea culpa on the only level an anonymous American can.

The good thing about our system is it tends to be self correcting. Bush took our policies in one direction, solved some problems, created others, but in two years he will be gone, and as you can already see if you look hard enough, his influence has lessened considerably. Our next President will probably look towards trying to improve our relationship with the rest of the world, and as a result, some of our policies will change.

If Iran had nukes and the USA didn't, there would be no Isreal, there would be no USA or anyone else that did not conform their beliefs, that's what the big bully is fighting to keep from ever happening. Don't be blind to reality. The US is not perfect by any means, but it is clearly the lesser of the many evils.

yeah. It is a very, very complex matter, but the big-bully expression comes to mind in certain issues! It has to do with the way US act in world matters. Did you know that 30 % of world people think that US is the greatest threat to world peace today.

What happens inside USA is not for me to judge - not being from the U.S

the u.s. is more of a "spoiled child" than "a big bully".
- short attention span.
- whining when s/he doesn't get her/his way.
- sense of entitlement, "mine. mine. mine."
- inability to play with others.
- limited & egocentric world view.
- limited, if nonexistent, empathy.
- makes a mess and expecting someone else to clean it up.

i use to be able to differentiate the people from the administration/ government... until george bush won re-election.
