It is all about tradition. Look at the history. Baseball has grown with American history all century. It has told the story about American culture since the early 1900s....

I would say 1. golf 2. football 3. baseball. I pick golf because more people play golf than any other sport. How many people are playing football, baseball, or even basketball after they are 20 years old? If so, not for long. I agree that more people may watch football on TV than golf, but the question was not the most watched sport, the question was the greatest American sport. If you would ever study the history of the game, I think you might understand where I am coming from.

It's baseball, but only because they have a 7-month season. If football had a longer season, baseball would be just a second rate pastime. (Who cares about bucketball.)
