Except Beckham, they're getting worst...

No, they weren't. They played rather badly, and its quite sad, because a few of the players were from MY team, Manchester United!

What I saw on the field wasn't the team of olde...it was a team that looked uncomfortable together, that couldn't seem to get a rhythm going, and looked a bit afraid of going all out, although near the end of the match with Portugal...they played like they should have in the entire tournament!

I will be watching closely this next 4 years, and wondering who will be the next England coach. Whomever they get to replace Erikson....I truly hope he's a LOT better at the job than he was! I know the players were good, and quite excellent in their respective roles on their home teams....but they didn't seem like it this time. Let's hope 2010 will show us a new, better practiced England team!

PS...to almond...my belief is because they just didn't have the time to practice together (Rooney not being able to practice with the team before the World Cup matches began) like they needed. If you've ever watched Manchester United...when Rooney and Ronaldo work the ball towards a goal, it's like a choreographed dance....they pass the ball back and forth like prima donna ballerinas (no insult intended!)...quite beautiful to watch! But with Rooney not able to be there, and Owen going out on injury, and Beckham just not "into" it this time around....they were bound to fail. Erikson hasn't had much support behind him...he's done his time, and I don't think his heart was really in it this year, since it was his last...time will tell if a new coach, and a new, fresh outlook will work better this next time around!

England wasn't good enough to go to World Cup final. But they still have some good players like John Terry, Gerrad, Lampard, Joe Cole and Rooney as well. So next time they gonna be better and Beckham is still a great part of England.

England were a real disappointment to fans this time. Worse than 2002, I think, because in that one they lost to Brasil through an outrageous free kick by Ronaldinho. This time they lost to Portugal on penalties! It was excruciating.

They had great individual players, but don't forget that they had almost no strikers: Owen injured, Rooney not fully fit, Theo Walcott (???) ...

Sven Goran Erikson deserves a lot of the blame. He chose badly, given that he KNEW he needed strikers. And he packed the midfield in a way that caused problems (Gerard and Lampard in the same role for example). And why Robinson? Does ANYBODY know? Sven had almost NO emotion. He seemed totally apathetic to everything England was going through.

But there were some bright spots: Aaron Lennon was terrific!

England has some good Individual Players but they have never been a good Team for the last 20 years or so as they always under perform in major Tournaments ~~~ A real Pity as these Players are really disappointing their Fans who are so passionate about their Team but never seem to get the Happiness these fans deserve.

England was terrible in this world cup. They didn't even play with enjoyment. Beckham alone can't save a bad team - he had too much pressure put on him.

Why do you think England played so bad?

Nope, they weren't good this year and i don't know why its amazing how they played horrible hopefully they play better in the Euro an world cup 2010. Hopefully they learned a lesson during this world cup like sometimes friends can come againest you like Cristiano. And that if you don't try hard enough you'lll fail like Portugal Vs. England. And you need to cool your temper its not worth it like Rooney & his red card.
