The woman - always! Searched for some quotes to back up my viewpoint:
"God gave women intuition and femininity. Used properly, the combination easily jumbles the brain of any man I've ever met."
(Farrah Fawcett )
"If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman."
(Margaret Thatcher )
"Women may not always be able to do the same things that men do physically, but we can make up for it by being mentally strong."
(Roberta Bondar Canadian astronaut )
"When women go wrong, men go right after them."
(Mae West )
I"f it's a woman, its caustic; if it's a man, it's authoritative."
(Barbara Walters )
"strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in the time to come."
(Proverbs 31:25)
and the best...
"To call woman the weaker sex is a libel; it is man's injustice to woman. If by strength is meant brute strength, then, indeed, is woman less brute than man. If by strength is meant moral power, then woman is immeasurably man's superior. Has she not greater intuition, is she not more self-sacrificing, has she not greater powers of endurance, has she not greater courage? Without her man could not be. If non-violence is the law of our being, the future is with woman. Who can make a more effective appeal to the heart than woman? "
(Gandhi)

I would say the most important person in any family would be the child. The child is the one who for a long time needs help and needs teaching, adults should already know a lot more than their children.

A family is a family and there is no such thing as 'normal', I think everyone in a family, however it is made up, is important. Each has their part to play. Each has a different role. Your child is the most important thing to you. You are the most important thing to your child. Your decisions affect your child's life, what you do and how you show he/she the world is an important gift. A gift of life. You are important!

No one is more important than the other, a child might need more time and guidance but that doesn't equal more important, and a parent earns money and decides more stuff, still not more important. Equality is all in the head. Washing-up is fun, but if you look at it as boring, equality becomes a huge issue.

A family is like a tree starting out as a seed, so the the two parents are the seeds when they have childen there branching off.
In a family the childern are important but not as much as the parents because without them they would`nt be there.
