from my observation, malaysian muslims love to criticize those who don't conform to their ways of morality & behaviour. please, leave the judgement to Allah & Allah only. who are we to judge others?

thank you for all the reponses. but, what i'm really trying to say is that the malay muslims in m'sia are very sarcastic & cynical towards other malay muslims who don't follow strictly to religious norms.

Nice question! well if it really happens, it's so sad & bad. By the way, i got my personal opinion regarding this matter. Maybe they are (Malaysian muslims) judgemental towards other muslims because they thought the muslims around the world should be in one basket not 2 or more. But in reality, when they look abroad, they found there are lot of differences among them. This happens due to universal concept of Islam, where the followers are not necessarily obliged to omit their culture, tradition and heritage so long as they are not contradictory to Islamic teachings. The Malaysian muslims by at large still preserve their own culture & tradition which definately might encounter insimilarity from other muslims' culture around the world. For example, the Arab muslims (male) found it very common to hug and kiss each other when they meet, but for Malaysian Muslims, it's a kind of strange thing. The same goes to differences from other aspect of social life. It's true that most Malaysian muslims receive their religion education from government schools which apply moderate approach, but in other muslim world, they are receive that from their respective scholars directly by which there are hardly any systimized syllabus and standard of teaching. They learned what conveyed to them and most of the time the scholars' personality influence them greatly. Or may be, due to the rapid development of economy and infrastrucuture in Malaysia over the last 15 - 20 years, the Malaysian Muslims living in comfort zone tend to look down at other less - developed muslim countries. Perhaps the ones who are supercritical (and this, sadly includes some of the so called holy men) are generally not very well educated and are insular. When you're born a Malay, generally speaking, you're also born a Muslim. So there's culture and religion mixed together. I've even heard the term 'masuk melayu' (enter malay) instead of entering Islam. So to many, being a muslim is a malay heritage. I know of non-malay muslims who aren't as well accepted by malay muslims even though they are spiritual brothers. Some Malay Muslims don't realize that there are way more Chinese Muslims in China than Malay Muslims.
It probably comes down to ignorance and insecurity. Then they wouldn't feel so threatened or defensive about their faith. Those who choose to be Muslim educate themselves on the religion before converting (I would hope, anyway). Those brought up in the religion should study their faith with as much zeal instead of just accepting what the schools and parents tell them. Then, I feel that there would be a realisation that we do what we must and the judgment will be done on the last day.

They are a bunch of retards that if ask probably can't even translate the Quran for you. What bothers me the most is that they would say this and that and when you ask them where in the Quran can you show me that mention this and they will just shut up. They read the Quran in Arabic and dont know what it means so they make up all this rules thats not even real. Plus like any other superior religion they think they are better in that country.
True believer never judge! Too many fanatics that arent even sure what they are a fan of.

One word... JEALOUSY. Who knows for sure? I just think they like to be the way they are out of spite to prove to others, not just Muslims, that they're far better.
It's not just the Malays though, I think it applies to everyone in the human race.
We're always going to be judgmental no matter what our racial/ cultural background may be...
People generally can't accept someone having more material wealth than them, is better looking, more intelligent, the list goes on.
And I agree with your point that only God has the authority to separate what's right from wrong.

agree with someone, but someone could have said it in such a way that anak sendu wont regard it as being judgmental on him...for he might NOT be the sort of people who can admit that he'd done wrong, eventhough the wrong/sin is done openly in public and being proud of it.
"Who r we to judge others" applicable only in certain situation n to know in which situation does it applies, u must learn more about Islam n not be so judgmental yourself in generalising that malaysian muslim r so judgemental of other muslims!

No offence to other malay malaysians here. i think what anak_sendu is saying is quite true...they are very sarcastic.. usually i went johor bahru city square n went shopping .. when i was changing money there was a policeman who saying to his collegue, i translate it in malay for those non malays- he said ," hey get lets get out of here... makes my eyes painful seeing this singaporeans here." i was like what the #$@%@. hell i went to KL before and just because being a muslim n paying by credit card.. they were like huh ? are you sure!!.. they just wont help other malays especially if your not a local.

It's the same the world over.
However, Malaysian muslims are more conventional. That could be a reason why (even though they are not as traditional as the Middle East).

well by saying that malaysian muslims are being judgemental, means you are also judging them, doesnt it? only difference is you are on the other side of the coin.

you're talking about those from kelantan and trengganu right? those were PAS are in charge? iw ould like to visit there and see how it really is like to live over there.
esp non muslims having to put up with those very rigorous islamic practices they impose there
