It has to do with the history of India. About 60 years ago when the British freed India from colonialism, the county descended into civil war between Hindus and Muslims (the country was almost 50/50). To solve this problem, the country was divided. The Hindus took India, and the Muslims took Pakistan. However, there was a dispute over whether India or Pakistan controlled territories in the very far north. The two countries have been at war on again and off again for this entire time over this land. This is simply an ongoing conflict between these two countries.

There is some concern that al queda, which is operating to some degree in Pakistan, may try to take advantage of this conflict to create a more militant Muslim movement in that country. Things have always been tense in this region since both Pakistan and India have nuclear weapons.

Some say that the US has made this problem worse recently by promising nuclear technology to India, but remaining against Pakistan's efforts to modernize its nuclear capabilities. Some see a connection between the U.S.'s support of India as related to these attacks.

Islam, need I say more? Islamic "separatists" in India want a piece of the country for themselves, independent from India. Its the same scenario thats happening in places like the Philippines, Thailand, and Africa. Muslim immigrate there and attempt to take over, like they did in Indonesia.

Did you know that when the muslims took Indonesia they killed 30 million chinese? A fact that is known in china well, but ignored by the west.

Because terrorists want the world to know that no one is safe anywhere. They have proven time and again that we cannot protect ourselves 100% of the time. As the president has said, "We have to be right 100% of the time. They [the terrorists] only have to be right once."
