YES! YES! YES! Zidane deserved the red card. Not only does Zidane deserve a card, but Materazzi should be treated like a hero for fans of the Italian team. If you can say something that leads to the ejection of the star of the opposing team than you have helped your team on its way to victory. Trash talking is part of sports, especially professional sports. The game is half mental and half physical.

Everyone is assuming that Zidane never said anything to Materazzi. If, as Zidane says, that no action is unprovoked then Materazzi's insult must have been provoked by Zidane. It is circular logic. Words from an opponent on a pitch are meaningless. The opponent is just trying to get inside your head, and it worked against Zidane. The guy is an emotional weakling. The equivalent of a child. He should be banned from attending or working in international football for a long time.

No matter how much i want to stand up for Zidane i have to face the truth that Zidane shouldn't have head butt the guy why not later and not at that moment during the most important match of the world cup 06 or any world cup. I mean Materazzi deserved that head butt. I personally wouldn't let it go but still Zidane shouldn't of do it then but i understand why he would do it then. Plus think of it if italy still have won the world cup and he attacked Materazzi then it would look like he had pure anger of losing.

It was their both fault. But Zidane got a red card because the cameras had recorded his head-butt & so Gigi Buffon insisted
that the Ref should eject Zidane.
Nobody could prove Materazzi's fault at that moment (even with
lip reading!) All the cameras were on Zidane especially when he approached, we didn't see what Materazzi said.

What fault would Materazzi have? His chest got in the way of Zidane's head? Zidane deserved the red card.

To be fair both zidane and materazzi's should of bean sent of together firstly for the insult that materazzi's threw at zidane and second the head butt zidane gave back the matter should of bean sorted off the field not on. It's a professional game so thay sould act like pro's not children.

i do not care what Materazzi suggested, there is not any excuse for Zidane's behaviour. If Materazzi did or say something extremely out of line Zidane must have suggested so after the game in a press convention. Zidane's short mood no longer in ordinary words harm his personal photo, yet possibly value his crew, his teammates and his us of a the international Cup. back, there is not any excuse and Zidane truly deserved the pink Card. P.S. I thougt that Zidane became the participant of the adventure till the incident. i became cheering for France.

both.. it was materazzi's fault for the racist remark in hich he should have been sent off for as well. but zidane's actions afterwards also warrented a red...... just a comment on the side. i have never seen zidane like that before and so i think that what was said must have been bad as zidane is an experienced player who isnt known for his temper. also someone last year also head butted materazzzi last year.

Zidane deserve the card because he didn't control his self, and use physical violence. Although I think Materazzi also deserve a card, because he use verbal violence. And I think that verbal violence is as bad as physical.
